The Thousand-Agent Company
Take a company of four or five hundred people. Give each one their own agent, which I think is exactly where this is heading, and you already have four or five hundred agents running. That is the floor.
On top of the personal agents sit the purpose-built ones, agents made for a specific job. Take coding as it is an obvious example. You might have one general coding agent that handles most of the work. Then you start carving out variants. One that lives inside a particular environment, with particular access, wired up a particular way. The harness is the same, yet the agent is different because it was set up differently and can reach different things. That single example multiplies fast. Every meaningful task ends up wanting its own configuration for many practical reasons such as access, security, and cost.
You land on thousands, all running in different configurations, with different access, doing different things. And somebody, eventually, has to answer a very simple question. What do they all do?
Right now most people could not tell you. With the stack most companies are running today, the agents are opaque. You can see that they are working, but not what they touch or what they are costing you. You cannot even block them or change their behaviour if you need to. That is fine with five agents. It is untenable with five thousand.
The observability, security, compliance, and cost layers become mandatory the moment the count gets real. You need to understand how an agent works, and also answer the harder questions around access, exposure, and spend. Cost alone is going to be a huge piece of this. None of it stays optional once the sprawl arrives. These layers are what earn trust in the systems, so you can actually rely on what they are doing.
Companies will be running thousands of agents very soon, and the challenges that come with that are already clear. That is exactly why we exist. CBK.AI is the full-stack agentic AI platform that controls the intelligence and runs it reliably, with the visibility, security, and control to back it. That is the promise we make to our customers today, and the one we keep making to everyone who comes next.
